PPCG CASE
CHIHKAO Law Firm Chengdu Headquarters Office
CHIHKAO Law Firm, founded in 2001, has grown to become one of the largest full-service law firms in Sichuan Province. It has been shortlisted for four consecutive years for the "China West Law Firm of the Year" award by the authoritative legal media Asian Legal Business and ranked for four successive years as a "Leading Firm" in the Corporate/Commercial field by Chambers and Partners. Additionally, CHIHKAO is recognized as a National Outstanding Law Firm and a Demonstration Base for Cultivating Young Lawyers in Sichuan Province.
As a leading full-service law firm in Sichuan, CHIHKAO recently inaugurated its new office at the Chengdu Jiaozui Financial Center, marking its entry into a 4.0 office era centered on "intelligence, sustainability, and efficient collaboration."
As the general contractor for the new office space, PPCG strictly adhered to international LEED environmental certification standards. By deeply integrating intelligent control systems, eco-friendly building materials, and multi-functional layouts, the project was completed within two months. The result not only achieves an optimal balance between efficiency and comfort but also conveys the professionalism, precision, and human-centered warmth inherent to the legal industry through meticulous craftsmanship.

6,097 sqm in Two Months. How to bring high-end design to life? How to master every construction detail? How can materials and craftsmanship articulate the austere aesthetics of the law? The details tell the story. This article focuses on the reception area, deconstructing how PPCG responded to design challenges through technical craftsmanship at five key stages.
1.Translucent Concrete Curved Feature Wall | The Casting Artistry of a Galaxy's Shimmer
Key Challenge:
The dual challenge of achieving both a curved form and uniform light transmission, while eliminating any visible joint marks or imperfections in light diffusion.
Solution:
The team employed a fully digitized control process throughout, utilizing 1:1 physical modeling and on-site layout to ensure the precision of the curves. Innovatively, they adopted a "pre-embedded light-guiding fibers + custom formwork + on-site monolithic casting" technique. Prior to construction, comprehensive layout planning was conducted on the elevation to meticulously avoid the dry-hung structure and light-emitting points. The final outcome achieves a soft permeation of light into the concrete texture, creating a dynamic yet dignified visual signature.

2.Seamless Inorganic Terrazzo Flooring | Establishing a Grounded Spatial Tone
Key Challenge:
The flooring must achieve a completely seamless surface, exceptional durability and wear resistance, while aligning with the dignified and substantial atmosphere characteristic of a law firm environment.
Solution:
Moving away from traditional panel materials, high-performance inorganic terrazzo was selected. Its aggregate ratio was scientifically calibrated to enhance wear resistance, fire rating, and stain resistance. The construction employed a monolithic cast-in-place and grinding process, completely eliminating joints to create a seamless, luminous stone surface. This approach fundamentally reinforces the spatial integrity and sense of solidity from the ground up.

3.Sintered Stone Pattern Inlay Flooring | The Functional Logic Behind Material Selection
Key Challenge:
The original design proposed foamed ceramic tiles, but their insufficient strength and wear resistance were inadequate for the high-traffic demands of the reception area.
Solution:
During the deepening design phase, PPCG proposed a material optimization plan, switching to higher-performance sintered stone. Through digital layout planning and a full-scale dry-fit assembly, a 3.6-meter-diameter inlay pattern was ensured to achieve precise seam alignment and rich color saturation. This approach faithfully restored the intended visual effect while significantly enhancing the floor's practical durability.

3.Panda Stone Staircase | Strolling Through an Ink-Wash Tableau
Key Challenge:
Translating the artistry of traditional Chinese ink-wash painting into contemporary stone construction requires seamless veining and a solid, reassuring tread underfoot.
Solution:
Project Manager Zhang Yi traveled to the Shuituo Stone Base in Fujian (China's largest stone processing hub) to carefully select the distinctive "Panda Stone." Based on the staircase's circulation path, multiple rounds of veining layout and detailed design were conducted to ensure the natural continuity of the grain across each step. Furthermore, pre-assembly was carried out in the factory prior to shipping, minimizing potential errors and reducing on-site rework risks.

Ultimately, the interplay and extension of the black-and-white palette subtly resonate with the negative space and rhythm of ink-wash art. This elevates the functional structure into an artistic installation that embodies corporate culture.

5.'Iconic Monolith' Sculptural Installation | Balancing Structure, Materiality, and Light
Key Challenge:
The pen-inspired heterogeneous structure is complex in form, requiring the integration of multiple materials and the implementation of internal illumination to display honors and awards.
Solution:
Leveraging extensive experience in complex sculptural projects, the team conducted in-depth structural mechanics calculations and detailed construction development. They innovatively consolidated different material interfaces and meticulously designed an internal light-path system. This comprehensive approach ultimately allowed the installation to achieve a perfect equilibrium among its poetic resonance, display functionality, and ethereal visual quality.

Beyond the visible craftsmanship, PPCG places equal emphasis on the inherent quality of the space. Through professional acoustic simulation and calculations, measures such as sound-absorbing insulation within the ceiling, and the use of a 75-series steel stud system with double-layer gypsum board within the walls have been implemented. These effectively ensure the privacy and tranquility of consultation areas, safeguarding client confidentiality. Simultaneously, the integration of technological elements, such as the smart transparent display screen in the reception area and flip-display walls, infuses the space with a sense of interactive vitality for the future, complementing its substantial and professional demeanor.

From concept to completion, the CHIHKAO Law Firm 4.0 office space represents another comprehensive implementation by PPCG, showcasing technical precision in response to design and artisanal dedication in interpreting professionalism. The project's exceptional execution also earned PPCG the "Best Partner" Award presented by the client. We believe that genuine office space enhancement always stems from a persistent pursuit of details, a profound respect for craftsmanship, and deep insight into user needs.
